Dr. Seuss: food for the soul
Today would be "Dr. Seuss" / Theodore Geisel's 111 birthday. His creativity and playfulness enriched my childhood, and I don't think I will ever outgrow his books. His books are full of fun, and continue to bring enjoyment to children and adults. They have stayed fresh in my memory because of the important themes he presented.
"Yertle the Turtle" taught me to understand humility.
"The King's Stilts" taught me the value of play.
"Bartholomew and the Oobleck" taught me the importance of speaking truth .
"Horton Hatches the Egg" taught me the rewards of responsibility.
"Green Eggs and Ham" taught me gratitute for friends who encourage me to try new things.
There are many more. You probably have a favorite.
Happy birthday, Theodore; the world is a better place because of you!
